Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to read this site, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, large text, or who are learning to read.

What we do

Every story is written at about a third-grade reading level.
Text and background colors have at least a 7 to 1 contrast ratio.
Everything works with a keyboard alone. You can see where the focus is.
You can make the text larger with the button at the top, or zoom to 200% and nothing breaks.
Every story has a Read aloud button that uses your device's own voice.
The site respects your reduced-motion setting.
Links say where they go. Links that open a new tab tell you so.
Every story links to the original article and names its publisher.

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA everywhere, and Level AAA for contrast and reading level.

If something is hard to use, please tell us and we will fix it.
